Made the detour on the way past Geelong and boy was I impressed. Wish it were more local so I could try the wide variety of delicious looking pies. Would definitely recommend both the chunky steak or steak & caramelised onion - to die for!!

Porter Ave Pies & Cakes has quickly earned a reputation as one of Victoria’s standout bakeries, and after two visits in as many days, it is easy to see why. Every item we tried reflected exceptional craftsmanship, balanced flavours, and a genuine passion for quality. Our first visit featured the December Pie of the Month: turkey breast with Camembert and cranberry, a sophisticated combination that was rich yet delicately balanced. The honey bourbon chicken pie offered a subtle sweetness with depth, while the jalapeño beef chuck pie provided a well-judged heat that enhanced rather than overwhelmed the filling. The vanilla slice with passionfruit frosting was a highlight — crisp pastry layers with a vibrant, fresh finish. The following day delivered equally impressive results. The bestselling chunky Angus beef pie was hearty, generously filled and perfectly seasoned. The curry pie was aromatic with layered flavour, and the lemon meringue mini tart struck a superb balance between citrus brightness and sweetness. The honey-kissed cake was light, fragrant, and beautifully textured. This place isn’t just a bakery. It’s a pilgrimage site for pastry lovers. If you’re not willing to drive half an hour for it, you simply haven’t met the right pie yet.

Pie of the month, chicken parmigiana was top shelf and grabbed the baked custard tart as well. Excellent service and great range.

Every thing here is made with love and you can tell. I haven’t had a pie yet there that I haven’t loved. The beef, jalapeno and cheese is top teir and possibly the best pie I’ve ever had. Great service too.

The best take away bakery ever the pies and pastries are so delicious. Today I got my fav curry pie and John got lamb and rosemary to take home for lunch. We decided to grab the pie of the month chunky beef cheese and jalapeño wow that didn’t even get home we devoured that in the carpark half each and both decided it was the new favourite. I’ve got it in my head Sunday easy dinner while watching football. Yes that pie with mash And a nice salsa on top and a spoon of sour cream Mexican salad to accompany. Yum. They also make an amazing vanilla slice so fresh and they are still crunchy base…… perfect
