Muratti Cakes & Gateaux in Prospect is the kind of bakery experience that makes your tastebuds whisper finally, someone gets it. This isn’t just cake, this is edible nostalgia with a modern swagger. From the moment you step in, it feels like you’ve walked into a sanctuary for sweets — the kind of place your sweet-tooth texts you about before you even think to walk through the door. Let’s talk cakes because that’s where legends are made here. Every slice looks like it could be on a tiny runway, all glossy buttercream and perfectly layered sponge that refuses to be basic. The sponge itself? Light, tender, and balanced like a well-written verse. Not too sweet, not too dry — just a rhythm of flavours that harmonise, not compete. Whether you’re into classic chocolate, elegant vanilla, zesty citrus or that cheeky red velvet that somehow still surprises, Muratti nails it. Then there’s the gateaux — sophisticated, indulgent, whimsical. They’ve got flavour combinations that make you raise an eyebrow then immediately ask for a second bite. Texture? Impeccable. Every mouthful hits with intention. Every bite feels like it was crafted with ceremony, not churned out by robots in a sugar factory. Pastries and slices aren’t playing either. The almond croissants have a flaky exterior that shatters in the best way, and the filling is rich without being heavy. Seasonal specials always feel like a thoughtful wink, like the bakery is in on the joy of dessert with you. Service here is warm — not fake warm, like genuinely nice humans who seem actually glad to see you. They’ll guide you through decisions without pressure, which is crucial when you’re standing in front of a display that looks like edible art. Coffee is strong in all the right ways, with the kind of crema that makes you want to Instagram it before you sip — but honestly, you’ll be sipping before you remember to snap a photo. The vibe of the place? Classic bakery comfort meets modern flair. It’s the kind of spot where locals whisper to their partners about plans to return next week, and honestly, same. You don’t just leave with cake, you leave with a sweet little pep in your step and a plan to tell everyone you know. If you love dessert, if you love quality, if you love joyful small business energy that actually delivers — Muratti Cakes & Gateaux is more than a stop on your route… it becomes the destination. 10/10 would recommend with zero hesitation. Cake that actually makes life better.
The food was amazing! we had lunch, drinks, and dessert, and everything was excellent. The service was just as good. We were served by Jules, who was incredibly friendly, funny, and welcoming while still remaining professional. He really made the experience enjoyable. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience and we’ll definitely be coming back.
One of our favourite places to visit - The savoury and sweet options are all excellent, and the pastries and cakes are delicious without being too sweet. The staff are friendly, the place is cool and comfortable inside, and the quality is always top-notch. It may be a bit pricey, but the taste and ingredients are absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Muratti’s. From the initial chat to the tasting through to the delivery of our amazing Wedding Cake a Croquenbouche. We thank you. nothing but the best service from start to finish. Shane and Helen
I visited Muratti yesterday with friends and wanted to share my experience. We ordered a mix of drinks: hot matcha latte, iced matcha, a regular latte, and a long black. I really liked the mugs—they’re big and comforting to hold—and the barista art was impressively done, very professional. For savoury items, we tried the pepper steak pie. It was a good size, and we asked for it to be reheated. The filling was rich and saucy with plenty of beef, but the peppercorn flavour was quite strong—almost overpowering for our taste. Unfortunately, the pastry was not flaky and felt a bit soggy, possibly due to reheating (maybe in the microwave?). The pastie was on the dry side and didn’t really impress us. We also had the tomato basil focaccia, which we originally ordered for takeaway but ended up eating there. It was enjoyable and well-balanced. Now for the highlight—the cakes! Muratti really shines here. The pistachio cake, which came highly recommended, completely blew me away. At $10.80 a slice, it’s on the pricier side, but honestly, the flavour and texture made it worth it. While I’ve had better pies elsewhere, the overall experience at Muratti was still positive. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends, especially for their cakes and coffee. I might try other spots for savoury pastries, but I’d happily come back for dessert.
